Published issue No. 2 (2023) on psychology

This issue of SibScript features various aspects of psychological sciences, e.g., cognitive sphere, deviant behavior, social digitalization, psychology of interethnic communication, expedient and subjective mechanisms of self-fulfillment, etc. The recent pandemic and the current instable geopolitical situation have given life to new research methods and approaches. At least 30% of the empirical and theoretical studies published in this issue were supported by Russian research funds, which means that these topics are relevant for domestic psychology.

The first section covers Cognitive Studies and Psychosemantic Personal Space. These articles describe the development and functioning of human cognition, as well as the psychological patterns, tools, factors, and conditions that determine these processes. Some of them study the relationship between the socio-cultural environment of the family and the individual variability of brain functions. Others focus on the existential dynamics of thinking with its transtemporal and chronotopic aspects of mental experience and the topology of cogital identity. One article introduces a psychometric analysis of the Russian version of K. V. Petrides and A. Furnham’s TEIQue-ASF emotional intelligence questionnaire for teenagers; another reconstructs the semantics of movie characters in the worldview of Russian teenagers.

The second section deals with the Psychology of Deviant Behavior. The authors find links between life strategies of convicts and their sentence span, aggression in young people and their alcohol consumption motivation, etc. These studies concentrate on the value-semantic and motivational components of deviant behavior. The results obtained are of practical importance, since they can be used in resocialization of former prisoners, drug abuse prevention programs, and behavioral modification techniques.

The third section covers Psychology of Virtual Human Activity unites authors who study the psychological aspects of social digitalization and its effect on such emotional and semantic spheres as personal resources, self-regulation, self-identification, and self-fulfillment. These articles feature various issues of online counselling, emotions expressed by teachers in digital communication, personality virtualization, etc.

The final section contains articles on the Psychology of Interethnic Differences and Interaction: Relevant Issues. They tell about intercultural communication and tolerance, interethnic trust in multicultural communities, adaptation of Arab students in Russia, learned helplessness in students from Russia and the United States, language anxiety as an indicator of functional bilingualism in future foreign language teachers, etc.

All these psychological aspects of human life will be of interest to specialists in general psychology, personality psychology, psychodiagnostics, social studies, developmental psychology, psychopedagogy, etc., as well as to non-specialist audience.

We will be glad to welcome new authors on the pages of SibScript, a peer-reviewed journal that is open to new topics and relevant issues in all aspects of psychology.
