ART AS THE EXPRESSION OF THE « SOUL OF CULTURE »
Abstract
The paper discusses the originality of art as the creative expression of “soul of culture”. Images of art can be called the “body” of the soul of culture, they are able to express both its primordial and alienated states. Art expresses (it expresses, and does not represent) the external and internal parts of the soul of culture (up to the depth of the essential processes), presenting it in its fullness and integrity. Images of art are the created and creating reality. The “doubling” of reality implemented in the images of art plays an important role in the process of self-revealing, self-identification of the soul of the culture. Art allows the soul of the culture not only to show, issue, hear and see itself, but also to express, to evaluate and to get rid of itself. That is, it is not only a way of expressing the soul of the culture, but also a stage of its evolution. The very creation of works of art is the experience and eradication (through objective value) of the specific emotional experience of culture.
