THE CONCEPT «CAT» IN ENGLISH PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS

Abstract
Phraseological units of the English language which verbalize the concept, represented in the language by the
lexeme cat, are analyzed in the article. The aim of the work is to reveal the features of the named concept (structural,
physical, functional, and those characterizing the national specifics of the English culture), which native speakers use
when creating phraseological units. The reflection of the concept «CAT» in the linguistic consciousness of native
speakers of English is revealed by the means of a receptive experiment.
