LEGEUPHEMISMS AS A TACTICS OF LEGAL RISK AVOIDANCE IN NEWS INTERNET MEDIA

Abstract
A euphemism is a less risky nomination, replacing a more risky one in the speech. The research focuses on the legal
risk as an active determinant of euphemy development in public communication in modern Russia. A legeuphemism
(legal euphemism) is an object of euphemology, as it is a nomination, allowing the speaker to minimize the risk of legal
liability. A legeuphemism should be understood as a nomination of any scale and semiotic status: word, phrase or
sentence. Legeuphemisms can be used at the lexical, stylistic and compositional level. In the current research two types
of legeuphemisms are described - synthetic and analytic ones.
