FUZZY QUALIFIERS IN TEXTS OF LEGAL AND COMMERCIAL DOCUMENTATION

Abstract
This article discusses the phenomenon of fuzzy qualifiers, which are typical expressions performing the function of
semantic compressors. The main function of the fuzzy determinants in speech is to serve as an information compressor,
allowing the speaker to put a large block of information in the utterance without detailing it in order to save the speech
effort. Interpretive destabilizer is a side (but inevitable and systematic) aspect of fuzzy qualifiers. This aspect forms
the potency of non-uniqueness of interpretation. These units increase the potency of the texts conflict interpretation by
compactness of utterances and unexpressiveness of semantics. The phenomenon was studied on the material of
commercial contracts and legal texts. Basing on the study, a functional classification of fuzzy qualifiers in Russian has
been developped. The investigated phenomenon is classified according to two principles - the degree of accuracy of the
transmitted concept and the type of hermeneutical basis.
