CONDOLENCE AS A FORM OF EXPRESSIVE SPEECH ACT

Abstract

The paper deals with discourse of condolence as a form of English speech etiquette. It is analyzed as an “expressive” speech act. Relevance of training speech etiquette forms in the situation of condolence is increased in conditions of modeling real communicative situations. The authors consider the linguistic means of “expressives”, such as the composition structure of condolence letters, borrowed from English sources.
