THE IMPACT OF MEDIA ON THE ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE EU DURING THE 2008 CRISIS
Abstract
The paper researches the impact of media on specific economic and political processes that have been going on in the EU during the crisis of 2008 and up to the present time. The author focuses on the "newsbreak" as a means of influencing the financial markets in Europe and, through them, the political decisions of the EU officials. It is concluded that the mass media’s manipulation in the economic sphere later escalated to the political level, making further use of «newsbreaks» in sphere of political development of the EU.
