THE CITY AS A SOCIOCULTURAL PHENOMENON
Abstract
The paper analyzes the fundamental researches by Maks Weber, Georg Simmel, Louis Wirth and Jean Baudrillard considering the city and urban lifestyle as self-dependent sociological phenomena. The works of these well-known authors let define the fundamental traits of the city as a social community with a particular type of social relations whose specific nature determines the expansive grown of modern urbanization.
