В статье рассматривается использование категории «пространственная конкуренция» в различных разделах экономической науки. Описывается появление первых исследований пространственной конкуренции в экономической теории, дальнейшее развитие в рамках пространственной экономики итеории отраслевых рынков. Показаны различия в походах к анализу категории пространственной конкуренции в пространственной экономике и теории отраслевых рынков и выявлен критерий этих различий.

The paper considers the concept of «spatial competition» in different branches of economics. It describes theemergence of its first studies in economic theory, and further studies in spatial economics framework and industrial organization framework. The article shows the difference between spatial economics and industrial organization approaches to analysing spatial competition.
