Статья посвящена ранней истории шотландской колонизации Северной Америки. Рассматривается история создания шотландской колонии Новая Шотландия (Nova Scotia) в 1621 - 1623 гг. Впервые анализируется трактат Уильяма Александера 'Encouragement to colonies' ("В поддержку колоний") как исторический источник по истории шотландской колонизации Нового Света и ранней истории Канады.

The article is devoted to the early history of the Scottish colonization of Northern America. The establishment of New Scotland colony in 1621-1623 is considered here. It is the first time when the tract 'Encouragement to colonies' of William Alexander is analyzed as the historical source according to the Scottish colonization of New World and early history of Canada.
