Комплексная семантика английских средств выражения будущего рассматривается в статье как результат исторического их развития в свете взаимодействия модальной и темпоральной составляющих значения. Ряд специфических функций формы с will в современном английском языке демонстрирует переходный характер и незавершенность этого процесса грамматизации на современном этапе.

The paper considers complex semantic character of English means expressing future as an outcome of their historic development in the process of mutual influence of temporal and modal semantic components. A number of specific uses of will + Vinf reveal some transitional results suggesting incompleteness of grammatization process of the form in Modern English.
